WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS CLASSIC

Agency: Horizon Sports & Experiences

Role: Brand Development, Social Media and Experiential Design, On-site Production

The Women’s Champions Classic is an annual women’s college basketball doubleheader, hosted by HS&E and held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

As HS&E’s largest owned property, the design team leads all creative efforts—from year-round social media and brand development to collaboration with partner schools, in-stadium LED content, court design, sponsor assets, and overall event production.

The WCC’s inaugural event in 2024 required a clear and cohesive brand foundation. I led the development of a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, including the original 2024 logo and its 2025 refresh, as well as standards for typography, color, use cases, stadium applications, and court design.

As an annual event, the Women’s Champions Classic brand continues to evolve—so the guidelines are regularly updated to reflect the latest logo treatments, team colors, and visual assets. Below are a few sample pages from the system.

BRANDING

Throughout the year, WCC’s social channels are managed by our internal social team, with design playing a constant supporting role in bringing the brand to life. We create a wide range of content—from ticket drops and matchup announcements to team news, women’s basketball storylines, quotes, and more—ensuring every post is visually aligned and on-brand.

SOCIAL MEDIA

For the annual marquee event, the design team leads the end-to-end development and production of all print and digital signage. This spans everything from interior and exterior stadium LEDs—ribbons, jumbotron, and more—to concourse wayfinding, hospitality materials, locker room nameplates, and event merchandise.

ARENA AND EVENT DESIGN

In Shark Beauty’s first year as title sponsor, we designed a concourse takeover that reimagined the space as a live hair styling salon. The activation featured product lockers, a bleacher-style photo op, and a basketball chain photobooth.

Drawing inspiration from Brooklyn’s basketball culture, we integrated Shark Beauty seamlessly into the tournament environment, creating a space that authentically connected beauty with women’s sports.

SHARK BEAUTY

To showcase the first two events, we developed sizzle reels that capture the energy, visual identity, and overall impact of the experience for both internal and external audiences. My role focused on creative direction—shaping the design language, developing all on-screen supers, and providing detailed feedback to ensure the final edit aligned with the brand system.
